All-optical single-species cesium atomic comagnetometer with optical free induction decay detection

چکیده
Atomic comagnetometers, which measure the spin precession frequencies of overlapped species simultaneously, are widely applied to search for exotic spin-dependent interactions. Here we propose and implement an all-optical single-species Cs atomic comagnetometer based on optical free induction decay (FID) signal atoms in hyperfine levels $$F_{g}$$ = 3 4 within same ensemble. We experimentally show that systematic errors induced by magnetic field gradients pump light highly suppressed comagnetometer. With further optimization, has potential be searches

Label-free, single-molecule detection with optical microcavities.
Current single-molecule detection techniques require labeling the target molecule. We report a highly specific and sensitive optical sensor based on an ultrahigh quality (Q) factor (Q > 10(8)) whispering-gallery microcavity. The silica surface is functionalized to bind the target molecule; binding is detected by a resonant wavelength shift. Single-molecule detection is confirmed by observation ...
متن کاملAll-Optical Atomic Bose-Einstein Condensates
Given the tremendous impact of BEC research in last 7 years and the continued growth of the field, it is important to explore different methods for reaching BEC, particularly methods that offer new capabilities, simplicity, or speed. We have recently demonstrated such a method by creating a Bose condensate of Rb atoms directly in a crossed-beam optical dipole force trap using tightly focused CO...
متن کاملSingle-photon all-optical switching
This paper investigates an analytical model of a system consisting of a photonic crystal waveguide, a microcavity, and a four-level electromagnetically-induced transparency atom. The transmission and reflection of the system are numerically calculated, and it shown that classical results for this class of systems can be extended to the quantum regime. In particular, these systems could enable u...
متن کاملLabel-Free, All-Optical Detection, Imaging, and Tracking of a Single Protein
Optical detection of individual proteins requires fluorescent labeling. Cavity and plasmonic methodologies enhance single molecule signatures in the absence of any labels but have struggled to demonstrate routine and quantitative single protein detection. Here, we used interferometric scattering microscopy not only to detect but also to image and nanometrically track the motion of single myosin...
متن کاملLabel-free Single Molecule Detection Using Microtoroid Optical Resonators.
Detecting small concentrations of molecules down to the single molecule limit has impact on areas such as early detection of disease, and fundamental studies on the behavior of molecules. Single molecule detection techniques commonly utilize labels such as fluorescent tags or quantum dots, however, labels are not always available, increase cost and complexity, and can perturb the events being s...
